Archibald Vivian
Hill (born September 26, 1886 in Bristo l, died. June 3, 1977 in Cambridge) - English physiologist, Nobel Prize laureate in 1922. He studied at Cambridge, he was a profes sor at universities in London and Manchester. Since 1918 member o f the Royal Society. The research work investigated the transformation of energy in the muscles and nerves. Showed that a significant proportion of energy is produced by the contraction and is depending on the presence of oxygen. For his work in 1922 received the Nobel Prize, irrespective of the German Otto Meyerhof.
